Incomplete contact
Check the actual gap around the full perimeter, not only the nominal drawing. Look for door misalignment, local groove obstruction, twisted profile or a corner that cannot expand freely.
- Measure the regulated pressure at the equipment
- Inspect for pinched tubing
- Compare the gap with the approved prototype condition
- Check the mating surface for steps or debris
Slow inflation or retraction
Inspect tubing size, valve restriction, long air runs and trapped folds. Retraction also depends on the exhaust path and whether the equipment keeps the seal compressed after the air is released.
Abrasion and early wear
Confirm that the seal is fully retracted before movement. Scratches in one repeated location often indicate interference, a sharp edge or misalignment rather than a material problem.
Do not increase pressure blindly
Excess pressure can hide the original geometry problem while increasing stress. Return to the approved setting and correct the gap, groove, support or control sequence first.
